EASIEST WAYS TO STAY SPIRITUALLY GROUNDED AND BALANCED WHEN LIFE GETS BUSY

When life gets busy, we often fall into the trap of turning on autopilot and we might tend to default to unhelpful ways of being that can keep us from regaining balance.

Why It Matters

With a busy schedule, it’s easy to start pulling things off the list because you think you won’t have time. But it’s important to think of the list below as things you can’t afford to miss. When work is busy, or you’re working towards a huge goal, it is important to understand that all of your tasks will run smoother when you commit to taking time for yourself and taking care of yourself. The more grounded you are, the better you’ll navigate the ups and downs and find flow in your life.

These are super easy things you can start doing today, to stay spiritually grounded and regain your balance whenever you need it. Treat the items on this list as a priority and watch how much easier it is to find peace and tame the chaos.

Start Your Day With Journaling

Journaling can keep you balanced and grounded when life seems to be going one hundred miles per hour. If you’ve never journaled much previously, don’t worry, there’s no wrong way to do it. Instead, give yourself permission to write freely, only when you feel compelled to, and express whatever you’re feeling at that moment. If you’re not one to grab a pen and paper, there are plenty of journaling apps you can also use. There are no rules; just start writing (or typing).

Create A Post-Work Routine

When you come home after a long day of work, what is the first thing that you do? Probably change into something more comfortable, but after that, do you do things that help you unwind from your day and reconnect with yourself? If the answer is no, then it might be a good idea to establish a post-work relaxing routine to feel calmer and more at home with yourself before bed. This routine may be as simple as lighting incense or a few white candles and making a cup of tea to help mark the end of a long day.

When we’re busy, and under a lot of stress, we tend to move as quickly as we can. Creating a routine at the end of the day that involves slowing down, stepping into mindfulness, and moving to create calm is crucial to creating and regaining balance when things get busy.

Take A Break to Meditate

Taking a five or ten-minute break to do some stretching and meditation can significantly improve your sense of well-being and be a wonderful thing to add to your spiritual practice. If you’re anything like me, you’re probably thinking, “But I can’t take a break. I’m busy!” And while that is true, please always remember that if you are too busy to give yourself five minutes, your priorities must be adjusted to ensure you make it somewhere on that list. So next time you think you don't have time to meditate because of your ever-growing to-do list, remember that you are the most important asset in your life. Nothing in your life can move forward with ease if you are not functioning well.

Try to find a gap or two in your day for five minutes of meditation or breathwork. There are free apps and videos online if you prefer guided meditations. Taking a moment to slow down in the chaos helps strengthen your resolve and gives you a practice you can always lean on during your day when life is charging full steam ahead.
